The car must transmissionbe level during this process, so if you raise it, do so evenly. The fill and drain plugs are hidden beneath this plastic cover under car at the front left. It just pops off at the integral plastic clips.
Im not sure what all this is but I think its gear selection components.
The drain plug is visible at the bottom of the case just left of centre in the pic. The fill plug is the hex key socket above it and indicated below.
To remove you will need a 7mm hex key. I found a hex socket on a 3/8 drive ratchet handle fitted well but I had to loosen the retaining screw just over the plug to get the ratchet in easily.
I made up a length of hose using clear hose at the end and inserted that end into the fill hole
Feeding the other end up through the engine compartment.
You can then attach gearbox oil containers and drain into the gearbox. Feels a little like a blood transfusion! I used the Comma equivalent to Ford oil, their MVMTF 75W90 GL4 fully synthetic which is about half the price of the Ford product.
I needed almost 2l to refill the box. I removed the hose and let the excess drip from the plug hole before reinserting the filler plug and reclipping the plastic cover.
